Secure Site UK is delighted to have been a part of Wirsol Energy’s tremendous feat of connecting 19 solar parks across the UK providing 105 MW of power within the renewable obligation scheme deadline.
Following competitive bidding, Secure Site was selected by Wirsol UK as the specialist electronic security supplier for two of the largest recent solar parks in the UK: Elms Farm in Oxfordshire and Roves Farm in Wiltshire. With a combined output of 42 MW from more than 165,000 PV panels covering 235 acres, these impressive sites were entrusted to a company who understood the requirements of solar farm development, had proven technical expertise and offered a full range of associated security services in-house.
Secure Site’s successful tenders incorporated 112 hi-resolution 1080p 2Mp cameras that provide crisp HD images, linked to 2 HD IP NVRs (Network Video Recorders), with off-site monitoring at both sites incorporating state-of-the-art video analytic software for quicker detection and clearer identification of threats.
As part of the local planning authority permission, wooden posts were specified, so Secure Site designed and manufactured ‘perma-head’ shrouds to which the cameras were fitted and mounted over the top of the posts. This was for 2 main benefits: firstly that the camera head unit could be built off site, more efficiently and cost-effectively. Secondly, and more importantly, that should the post have to be replaced in the future, because of damage or eventual rotting, it would enable the camera head unit to be easily and inexpensively exchanged by the post installer without the need for a CCTV engineer to attend.
Wirsol is now looking forward to future developments of solar energy in the UK and also expanding a large portfolio in Australia; and have recently announced a solar deal across three sites which will be fully funded and financed.
