How do I protect vacant land?

Our concrete barrier protection system utilises carriage way protection TVCB’s Temporary Vertical Concrete Barriers, as they are constructed in accordance with BS EN 1317 which ensures that they are robust and certificated to withstand an impact with a vehicle travelling at 50 mph. This makes them an ideal solution for protecting open land, unused car parks and gate ways, being 3 metre wide, 2.5 tonne in weight, once placed they are not easy to move and provide protection that stops trespassers, vandals, fly-tippers and travellers in their tracks.

Is it possible to still have gated access?

We have developed a robust steel swing gate that can be placed in between two concrete barriers, which is kept in place by placing the concrete barriers on the base plate of the modular steel gate.

The gate itself if constructed out of steel box section, which is galvanised for long term steel protection and incorporates secure hinges, a bidirectional opening system and a high security locking point for a high security padlock, which is further protected by a shroud to protect the shackle.

Having a secure gate in the barrier system means that you can have easy secure access to your site to carry out remedial works as and when required, without the need crane or forklift specialist lifting equipment.

Can we use Concrete Security Blocks for pedestrian protection?

It has become more common to provide pedestrian protection from moving vehicles, and the temporary vertical concrete barriers when bolted together and installed to BS EN 1317 have been tested to withstand impacts of up to 50 mph making them the obvious solution when pedestrians need to be protected from moving vehicles.

When installed to the standard the barriers simply and effectively prevent vehicles from encroaching on pedestrian areas, such as markets, public events, shopping centres and on some busy construction sites. This carriage way protection system ensures that you can safely protect people and prevent vehicles from coming into direct contact with people in a pedestrianised area in an effective and managed way.

How quickly can Concrete Blocks be delivered and placed?

With depot locations, and lorries constantly operating, UK-wide, we deliver and place concrete barriers across vulnerable openings or perimeters, normally within 24 hours of an instruction to provide almost instant site protection.

Our vehicles can deliver a maximum of 10 concrete barriers on a single vehicle which is enough barriers to protect up to 30 meters of perimeter. These vehicles are equipped with an all-terrain fork lift which can quickly and efficiently unload and place the barriers in no time at all.

Other vehicles are available for smaller loads and tighter sites where it may not be accessible to an articulated HGV, our smaller vehicles are generally equipped with a crane arm which can lift and place the blocks as required.

Can Concrete Barrier Blocks be bolted together?

We recommend bolting the barriers together where possible, because of the TCVB’s unique interlocking system the barriers become even more immovable when bolted together, with their overall mass growing exponentially as they are connected. For example, 10 barriers blocking an entranceway that have been bolted together with have an overall weight of 25 tonne, a physical barrier that cannot be moved that easily, if at all.

When bolted together utilising high tensile M24 bolts the interlocking Temporary Vertical Concrete Barriers (TVCBs) meet BS EN 1317 and which means that they have been tested to withstand impacts of up to 50 mph, when used in a carriage way protection scenario the incorporation of a pre-cast directional arrow aids directional traffic flow and are often painted alternate colours such as red and white to meet all safety standards.

Can Concrete Barriers be used as a counterweight?

Another flexible use for the TVCB blocking system is as a counterweight to secure structures and improve the wind loading without the need for costly footings or earthworks. The concrete barriers when used as counterweights can provide the necessary mass to secure site hoardings, enhance security fencing which can easily be incorporated to provide a very cost-effective blockade to deter even the most determined trespassers.

In some cases, scaffolding or large marquees may need additional ballast to secure the structure and by utilising the TVCB blocking system, these structures can be easily secured, regardless of the terrain.

Can I hire Concrete Barriers?

We understand that you may not know how long that you will need the concrete barriers on site to protect your vacant land or property, which is why we offer the interlocking concrete barrier system on a flexible short or long term hire or outright purchase, to suite your project, this applies regardless of the quantity required and can even be one barrier!

The majority of our clients hire the barrier system as at the end of the requirement the concrete blocks barriers do not normally fit in with the ongoing project and because of their sheer size and weight they are often not easy to move around or off the site without specialist machinery.

What are the dimensions of the Concrete Road Barriers?

Can we customise or brand the Concrete Barriers?

The concrete barriers are normally supplied in our corporate colour to make them highly visible and give an actively managed appearance on site, however it is possible to customise the concrete barriers to match your corporate branding scheme and further enhance the site aesthetics.

Additionally, you may have a requirement to or incorporate safety markings or instructions on the barriers to enhance site signage and improve health and safety information, such as on a busy construction site, yet another practical use of the barrier system.
